چکیده
A 30‐year‐old man noticed acute visual loss in his left eye following explosion of a vehicle tire tube while inflating. On presentation, Snellen visual acuity (VA) was 20/20 in the right eye and 2 meters counting fingers in the left eye. Relative afferent pupillary defect was negative. A small area of temporal conjunctival hemorrhage, anterior chamber red blood cells (1+), and inferotemporal iridodialysis extending 3 clock hours were evident on slit lamp biomicroscopy. Fundus examination revealed thickening and yellow discoloration of the macula and a mild vitreous hemorrhage [Figure 1]. Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD‐OCT) of the left eye showed disruption of the foveal anatomy. OCT findings included neurosensory detachment of temporal foveal region, disruption of the outer nuclear layer, cystic disruption of the outer plexiform layer, and disruption of the external limiting membrane, ellipsoid zone, and interdigitation zone in sub foveal and nasal foveal regions. Large schisis cavities could be seen under fovea. The central foveal thickness was recorded as 767 μm [Figure 2]. Two cases of X-linked retinoschisis with different spectral domain optical coherence tomography findings
Spectral domain optical coherence tomography was used to image the maculae of two brothers who had the diagnosis of X-linked retinoschisis maculopathy. One patient demonstrated a large foveal cyst in one eye and a lamellar macular hole in the fellow eye. The second patient demonstrated small retinal cysts in multiple layers of the retina. Spectral domain optical coherence tomography allowed hig...
متن کاملRetinal Ganglion Cell Complex in Alzheimer Disease: Comparing Ganglion Cell Complex and Central Macular Thickness in Alzheimer Disease and Healthy Subjects Using Spectral Domain-Optical Coherence Tomography
Introduction: Alzheimer disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia worldwide. The modalities to diagnose AD are generally expensive and limited. Both the central nervous system (CNS) and the retina are derived from the cranial neural crest; therefore, changes in retinal layers may reflect changes in the CNS tissue. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) machine can show delicate retinal layer...

Background: optical coherence tomography is one of the most valuable imaging techniques in the evaluation of macula. Objective: to investigate the repeatability and reproducibility of OCT in measuring the macular thickness in normal eyes before and after pupil dilation. Methods: A total of 44 eyes were enrolled. All subjects underwent macular thickness measurement using the Cirrus SD-OCT ma...
متن کاملMacular hole in juvenile X-linked retinoschisis.
An 18 year-old male with no antecedent of trauma, systemic syndrome or myopia was referred for surgical treatment of a full thickness macular hole in the left eye. A more careful inspection revealed discrete foveal cystic changes in the fellow eye and subtle peripheral depigmented retinal pigment epithelial changes in both eyes. A spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) scan confi...
متن کاملSerous Macular Detachment Secondary to Optic Pit: Surgical Treatment and Long Time Results
32-year-old Turkish male patient presented with an optic disk pit and serous macular detachment in the left eye. Spectral domain optical coherence tomography revealed serous macular detachment and retinoschisis. After vitrectomy the retina gradually flattened and vision was gradually improved. We aimed to report a case of serous macula detachment secondary to optic pit and long term result of s...
